Committee Work
This year Kristy Adams has done a great job in getting new members for our advisory committees. We have decided to have a separate committee for the Event Planning program and the Hospitality/Food & Beverage programs. There is still work to do with these committees as we are currently looking to add more people to the committees for the 2013/2014 season.
There has been a great amount of work done on the curriculum for all of the Hospitality programs. We are introducing a new curriculum for fall 2013 in all the programs. perhaps the most radical is the Event Planning program.
We have established the 3 credit system and contact hours, plus balanced the semesters. We are introducing a new course to the Food and Beverage program. This new course will be an Introduction to the Quick Service Industry. We have also split the Mixology and Beer course into two separate courses and students will be able to achieve two beer certifications in the Beer classes. We are working with OTEC to enhance our customer service course offering and the Event Planning program is introducing a capstone course through OTEC.
